Sleep, Leningrad 1928 - Vladimir Lebedev (1891 - 1967)

Amateur boxer, painter and pioneer of children's literature, Vladimir V. Lebedev trained in Bernstein's studio before attending the Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg (1912 - 1914) Close to Tatlin, Malevitch and Mayakovsky, he produuced albums for children with the poet Samuel Marchak that are still admired around the world. Lebedev discreetly photographed his family circle, while the Russian artistic life fell into a big sleep.
